The purely mineral substrate MONOPON is 100% natural pumice and ensures optimum root aeration and sufficient air circulation in the planter when used as a drainage layer in conventional planters without a LECHUZA self watering system.
As an environmentally friendly alternative to expanded clay, MONOPON forms the first layer in the planter, protecting against waterlogging and root rot. The natural pumice stores moisture, releasing it back to the roots as needed. MONOPON can be used for complete planting in place of conventional potting soil. As well as being used as a drainage layer, MONOPON can also be added to potting soil to loosen it and for aeration.
The substrate is not pre-fertilized, so that nutrients can be supplied as needed making it universally suitable for all plants.
